South Dakota government bids for small agencies
Where South Dakota, its cities and counties post their bids, how to register, and the open ones that suit a small web, software, video or marketing agency right now.

No South Dakota bids on our vetted list at the moment. New ones turn up most weeks; the free Monday email brings the best five.
Where South Dakota posts its bids
- State bids
- Central Bid Exchange (ESM posting board, South Dakota State Government). The Office of Procurement Management posts state IFBs, RFQs and RFPs on this ESM Solutions posting board. Anyone can view it and download RFP documents.
- Register as a vendor
- ESM Solutions supplier registration. Registered vendors who choose matching NIGP commodity codes get an automatic email when the state posts a solicitation.
- Free bid coaching
- South Dakota APEX Accelerator: the state's APEX Accelerator helps small businesses with registrations and proposals at no cost.
Big city, county and agency buyers
Each of these runs its own bid page, and most want you registered in their system too.
| Buyer | Bid page | Runs on |
|---|---|---|
| City of Sioux Falls | Open bids | Bonfire |
| City of Rapid City | Open bids | Public Purchase |
| Minnehaha County | Open bids | Own website |
| City of Aberdeen | Open bids | Own website |
Good to know
- On the state's ESM posting board, an "Invitation Only" RFP is still open to any vendor. The label only means vendors with matching NIGP codes get an automatic email. source
- Rapid City posts its open bids on Public Purchase. Vendor registration there is free, and you must log in to see the open bids. source
- Sioux Falls posts bids on its Bonfire e-procurement portal. Registering there lets you get bid notifications, respond to bids and view past bid results. source
Before you bid
Registering takes time, so do it before you find the perfect bid: how to get registered, and how to write a capability statement (with a free template).
