North Dakota government bids for small agencies
Where North Dakota, its cities and counties post their bids, how to register, and the open ones that suit a small web, software, video or marketing agency right now.
Open right now
No North Dakota bids on our vetted list at the moment. New ones turn up most weeks; the free Monday email brings the best five.
Where North Dakota posts its bids
- State bids
- NDBuys. The State Procurement Office's Ivalua system lists current bidding opportunities, the state bidders list and state term contracts. Solicitations can be viewed after completing a CAPTCHA, without an account.
- Register as a vendor
- NDBuys supplier registration (Bidders List). Registering and choosing commodity codes puts you on the Bidders List, so you get automatic email notices and can respond to new solicitations. You sign in with an NDLogin, the state's single sign-on account.
- Technology buying
- North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) - IT Procurement. NDIT reviews agency IT purchases, including renewals, before they go to procurement. The state procurement office then posts the request for vendors.
- Free bid coaching
- ND APEX Accelerator: the state's APEX Accelerator helps small businesses with registrations and proposals at no cost.
Big city, county and agency buyers
Each of these runs its own bid page, and most want you registered in their system too.
| Buyer | Bid page | Runs on |
|---|---|---|
| City of Fargo | Open bids | Bonfire; construction bids via QuestCDN |
| City of Bismarck | Open bids | own website (CivicPlus bid postings) |
| City of Minot | Open bids | own website (CivicPlus bid postings) |
| City of West Fargo | Open bids | own website (CivicPlus bid postings) |
| Fargo Public Schools | Open bids | own website |
| Bismarck Public Schools | Open bids | own website |
Good to know
- North Dakota repealed its reciprocal bid preference in 2023. When bids or proposals tie on price or score, preference must go to a resident North Dakota bidder. source
- To use NDBuys you need an NDLogin; an NDLogin you already use with another state agency (such as the Secretary of State's FirstStop) also works. source
- New City of Fargo vendors must register in Bonfire, or in QuestCDN for construction projects, before submitting a bid or proposal. source
Before you bid
Registering takes time, so do it before you find the perfect bid: how to get registered, and how to write a capability statement (with a free template).
